Founded in 1997, Peter Schweller Fine Art is a leading private dealer, art appraiser and researcher in Old Master and British paintings, specialising principally in 17th to early 19th century portraiture. Based in London and New York we deal across the spectrum of American, British, Dutch, French, Italian and Spanish paintings and drawings.
With over 30 years of art market experience, Peter Schweller initially worked at auction houses in both London and New York. Graduating with a degree in History he has been responsible for the rediscovery and reattribution of numerous lost works by Sir Anthony Van Dyck, John Constable and Thomas Gainsborough to name just a few.
Initially specialising in the research and repatriation of ancestral portraits, Peter Schweller Fine Art now trades across a spectrum of 16th to 19th century paintings and drawings as well as providing other advisory services
Clients include private collectors, museums and other institutions in North America, Europe and Australia.
