Appraisals

As specialists in Old Master and British paintings and drawings, Peter Schweller Fine Art partners with appraisal firms to provide expert valuations and appraisals for damage and loss scenarios and for estate planning purposes.

Provenance Research

From the French provenir meaning ‘to come from’ provenance is the history of ownership, of a work of art.

Peter Schweller Fine Art utilises its deep understanding of archival inventories, sale catalogues and dealer stock books, available in both the US and the UK to provide a documented history of a painting, which can help prove ownership, assign the work to a known artist and establish the work of art’s authenticity.

.This expertise, coupled with research into primary genealogy records has enabled Peter Schweller Fine Art to specialise in locating portraits all over the world and following extensive research, reuniting  them with their descendants.
